Artist's Statement

Art can be a beautiful expression of the real world. It is also a wonderful way to document a world in transition for future generations to look back on. But when I look at the world now, through the eyes of an artist, I am troubled as I see more and more development and consumption of natural resources than ever before in history. I am troubled when larger and larger chains, unconcerned with anything other than their bottom line, move in and force the smaller, independently owned businesses to close as they simply can't compete. And I am troubled with what we are doing to the world around us as if we are alone in this world and the animals that share this planet with us are treated as pests rather than neighbours and co-inhabitants.

It is my wish to use my paintings and photographs as a way to help preserve our environment as well as protect our co-inhabitants. That is why a small portion of the proceeds from every sale of my work will go to various wildlife and natural resource preservation organizations. I will personally, and continually, review the organizations which I support to ensure that the majority of the funds given go to the preservation of nature rather than administrative and operational costs of the organizations.
