Artist’s Statement


Art can be a beautiful expression of the real world. It is also a wonderful way to document a world in transition for future generations to look back on. But when I look at the world now, through the eyes of an artist, I am troubled as I see more and more development and consumption of natural resources than ever before in history. I am troubled when larger and larger retail chains, unconcerned with anything other than their bottom line, move in and force the smaller, independently owned businesses to close as they simply can’t compete. Gone are the days of the “mom and pop” shops


I am also troubled with what we are doing to the world around us as if we are alone here while the animals, who are unceremoniously evicted every day from their habitats at an alarming rate, are treated as pests rather than the neighbors and co-inhabitants they are.


It is my wish to use my paintings as a way to help preserve our environment as well as protect our co-inhabitants. That is why a small portion of the proceeds from every sale of my work will go to various wildlife and natural resources preservation organizations. I will personally, and continually, review the organization which I support to ensure that the majority of the funds given go to the preservation of nature rather than administrative and operational costs of the organizations.
